- Reporting Crime: If you have need to report a crime, contact Buena Vista Police Department or, in an emergency, call 911.
- Civil Matters involving the City of Buena Vista: Our office prosecutes criminal matters arising in the City of Buena Vista. For civil legal matters involving the city, please contact Brian Kearney at brian@hklexlaw.com.
- Legal Counsel regarding the Commonwealth of Virginia: Although the commonwealth’s attorneys represent Virginians in court, they do not provide legal counsel to the state government. This is the role of the Attorney General of Virginia, who is elected by the state’s voters every four years.
- Private Legal Matters: Commonwealth’s attorneys also do not provide legal counsel to individual citizens on private matters. Citizens in need of legal assistance may call the Virginia State Bar Referral Service at 800-552-7977.
- Questions about Criminal Justice in Buena Vista: While we cannot discuss individual cases with the public, our office is always willing to speak to citizens who have concerns about crime and criminal justice in our city. Please contact our office and request an appointment if you have concerns you would like to discuss with the Commonwealth’s attorney.
