City Council

The Buena Vista City Council is comprised of six members and a Mayor, who are elected by the residents of our city. The City Council serves as the legislative body of Buena Vista, responsible for making policy decisions, passing ordinances, and overseeing the administration of city services.

Each City Council member serves a term of four years, with elections held on a staggered basis to ensure continuity in leadership, meaning that only a portion of the council seats are up for election during any given election cycle. Elections for City Council are held biennially during November elections. Residents of Buena Vista are encouraged to participate in the democratic process by casting their votes for the candidates they believe will best represent their interests and the interests of our community.

Meeting Information:

City Council meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers at 2039 Sycamore Avenue. These meetings are open to the public, providing an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns, offer input on city matters, and stay informed about the decisions being made on their behalf. Additionally, special meetings may be called as needed to address specific issues or emergencies facing our city.

Get Involved:

We encourage all residents of Buena Vista to engage with their City Council and actively participate in the governance of our community. Whether by attending meetings, reaching out to council members with questions or feedback, or considering running for office in future elections, your involvement helps shape the future of our city.
